Level 1 Accommodations in Moab, Utah
When in Moab for mountain biking, Elvis and his fish always stay at the Hotel Off Center.
THE HOTEL OFF CENTER IS NOW OUT OF BUSINESS--DISREGARD INFORMATION HEREINFriendly and Laid-backWe used to have our office IN this small hotel, then moved across the street for a few years. Now that we are located a couple of blocks away, we still recommend the Off Center for folks like funky and eccentric lodging. The best restaurants in town, the Desert Bistro, is just downstairs. Eddy McStiff's, Moab's best family restaurant and bar is 100 feet away. The Moab Film Commission Museum, the Dan O'Laurie Museum, the Moab Public Library, and the Moab Information Center are just yards away. The Hotel Off Center is Moab's most bizarre, funky, and friendly hotel. Every room has a personality of its own. The place has been designed and built by Tim Knouff, who honed his weird talents making props for the movie industry. If you need a rock, a big tooth, a giant can, a tree, or a tree that needs to look like a rock or a big tooth or a giant can, Tim will whip one out for you. And, when we call the Hotel Off Center funky, we don't mean it is really dirty. It is decently clean, but has funky old carpets that while not as "glossy" as new ones, are certainly tacky, which is good in the case of the Hotel Off Center. It's homey, casual atmosphere is sometimes haunted by local color. Folks leave their rooms open when they sleep. While some folks shy away from the Off Center's European-style shared baths or its way-too-casual business style, the place can be great for anyone who understands that you get what you pay for and appreciates something different. It's a bit like staying in grandma's house, but believe us, grandma was never this strange, friendly, or cool, and she probably never rode a mountain bike. This is the bike cult hotel to end all. Check out the pictures below. There is a laundry and kitchen available to guests.
