An Alien Abduction is a mountain bike vacation that includes Colorado's Front Range singletrack. The name came from permission to use singletrack on a huge tract of land owned by a world-famous expert on the subject. We don't use the land anymore, but the subject lingers. We recommend that you begin on the rugged slickrock of Moab, then travel with us to Front Range trails near the Rocky Mountain National Park, but you can begin and end with a flight into Denver International Airport (DIA), if this is your wish. Alien Abductions are for fit intermediate to hardcore riders, folks who want a high-quality, fully-supported, private mountain biking vacation with as much trail variety and challenge as possible. Included are cozy cabins and/or hotel accommodations. If you choose to enjoy our most exotic slickrock rides in Moab to begin with, you can opt for a day on Fruita's high plateau singletrack or a variety of difficult and challenging high elevation Colorado alpine trails on the way to the Front Range. Once in our chosen Front Range lodgings, we enjoy a wide variety of trails relatively unknown to the mountain biking subculture. When the time comes for a break, Rocky Mountain National Park is home to some of the best hiking trails in the Rockies, perfect for getting those other muscles working.

There is a reason we suggest that you begin such a high altitude mountain ride series with a couple of days in Moab. If you are coming from sea level, you will appreciate the transition from the 4,000'+ elevation of Moab to rides in the Rockies that take place between 8K and 12K. The Alien Abduction is perhaps our most physically demanding offering and choices are diverse. Moab is home to slickrock and canyons, sand and technical Jeep trails. The Front Range of Colorado holds difficult rockiy and loose granite singletrack, horse trails and, like Moab, very rugged jeep roads. All trails deliver breathtaking views and can include lung busting climbs and breathtaking decents. We throw in a couple of shuttled downhill runs just for fun. The ride series over the span of days you ride with us will flex as your body adjusts to altitude. Each trail is chosen taking into consideration your abilities and interests. Rest days are usually scheduled depending on need. Bottom line is that you tell us how deep and how high you want to go and we set up an itinerary to suit. Because we are a small group in a single SUV, we can easily adjust to weather or interests.
Our comfy spacecraft is a Toyota Sequoia. Your personal guide and driver is Lee Bridgers, Dreamride owner, author of MOUNTAIN BIKE AMERICA: MOAB, and former Director of the Rocky Mountain Film Center in Boulder, Colorado. Your personal driver, chef and co-guide is Ken Moody, expert racer and former head chef at the Boulderado and Gold Hill Ranch. Both Lee and Ken lived on the Front Range for many years and are now Moab residents. Their combined knowledge of Moab and the forests and private lands above Boulder, Colorado and around Estes Park is unsurpassed.

About accommodations and meals: We offer the pictured cabins and lodge as our base with the option of the Stanley Hotel, Baldpate Inn, or hand-picked private homes and cabins. Lodgings are chosen for quality, cleanliness, character, mountain bike friendliness, charm and prime location. Honeymooners will love the specially chosen cabins for two. If you are staying in private home or cabin, meals can be prepared and/or served by our chef. Breakfasts can be served in your cabin, or we can use an assortment of restaurants, supplemented by box lunches and continental breakfasts. There are a handful of four and five star restaurants in the area.
