Pegoretti Frames and Complete Bicycles
Welcome to the world Dario created. Due to preparations Dario made for his retirement prior to his death, the Pegoretti factory is continuing on course with very few changes. The best result has been renewed production of the Luigino and Day is Done lugged frames that Dario had abandoned over the past few years. Of course, Dario is gone and that is a huge issue for us, but we've gotten our first post-Dario Ciavete Responsorium and it is amazing, so you can be assured that quality is as we have seen all along. Pietro continues on with Dario's work and the anticipation of pure joy is still there: the ride, the quality of the engineering and now there is a selection of colorways that can be reproduced, most with the ability to modify the colors. Custom Ciavete paint is available and themes are accepted if you have a passion that needs to be expressed. And the most popular frames perfected over Dario's lifetime are still available, the Duende, Marcelo, Responsorium and Big Leg Emma. You can thank Dario for partnering with very talented artisans and leaving behind a factory and all those designs for those who remain. Now, even though the King is dead, the Pegoretti studio is ready to serve us and continues to provide the best of Italy's steel alternative. Steel remains real and if you know what we know, the best riding frames on Earth.
We did our best to gather frames from remaining inventory at the distributor and were lucky enough to have ordered a few prior to Dario's passing. As of March 2019 we have the following Pegoretti frames and complete bikes* in stock: 52 (Duende Faema), 53 (Marcelo Mesonperso* and Responsorium Ravenna*), 54 (Duende Piaza* and Responsorium Connic*), 56 (Duende Piaza), 57 (Duende White Guantanamo* and Responsorium Connic). We have been blessed to be able to offer Dario Pegoretti's amazing artwork and what is arguably the best steel bicycle frames on the market. Some, like us, argue that the Marcelo is the best frame on the planet. You may think that is the the passion speaking, but until you ride one, you will never understand without trusting history. Tom Boonen won the Tour De France green jersey in 2007 on a Marcelo with Specialized logos, even if Dario didn't care if you knew about it. He was behind Tour de France winners, too. The Big Leg is a direct result of working with Miguel Indurain. Not only the professional racers are true believers. Pegoretti bicycles are collected by investors who appreciate Dario's talents, but if you have one, you ride it and it gets dirty and scratched and it doesn't matter because it has that magic feel in the saddle and its scars are like your scars and they tell a story. If you want to scare your friends on their carbon fiber freakouts, show up on a Pegoretti and take them into fast turns, pass them on the descent or leave them in a sprint. Steel has advantages born of centuries of metallurgy. It has spirit. It has soul. It is in our blood. And a Pegoretti frame is where these obvious advantages get a fancy paint job.

Dario Pegoretti began as an apprentice to Luigino Milani of Verona where he helped produce frames for legendary road racers like Roche, Battaglin, Chiappucci, Indurain, Tafi, Cipollini, Ghiroto, Fondriest, and many others. Dario worked in the Milani shop until he moved to his own one-room shop near Trento in 1999. Dario was one of the first to use modern tig welding to produce state-of-the-art steel frames. With two assistants Pegoretti fabricated about 600 frames per year - all by hand.
Pegoretti frames deserve a top notch builder. Call Lee at the Dreamride shop to get started on your Pegoretti bike.

WHEEL DEALS AND PERKS
FACTORY PRE-BUILT WHEELSETS ARE OFFERED WITH FRAME OR COMPLETE BIKE PURCHASE. The best choice for a Pegoretti is always a Campy wheelset, but if you want a Fulcrum (also Italian, making them a good choice for a Pegoretti), Zipp, Mavic or custom ENVE set with purchase, we can provide and/or build up a selection of rims with King, White Indusries or Phil hubs. Choose ceramic bearings, aero carbon sets, and various spoke configurations. They are simply the best. There are other opportunities for Pegoretti buyer beyond the bike, like free guided free guided rides in Moab and sales incentives toward Moots bikes. |

Lee Bridgers builds up Pegorettis with an artist's touch. It may seem simple because Italian parts are preferred, but when it comes to cost, cosmetics and use of the bike, there are many ways to proceed. Lee helps you get to a level of exotic beauty and performance appropriate to your frame choice, riding style and budget. From the start is all about perfect frame and paint choice, fit AND enhancing the classic beauty of that Pegoretti frame. Colors and patterns in carbon, leather, vinyl, paint and cork are chosen to match and enhance the frame's paint design. A complete Campy group with matching wheelset is the traditional road to take with a top notch Italian frame and sticking with the a classic Campy wheelset and Italian gum wall tires is best to just get out of the way and let Dario's ghost take over. The idea is to insure the continued value of your Pegoretti as a collector's bike. Italian cockpits only, specifically Fizik or Deda (Brooks saddles are now owned by Fizik, so consider that British item to be Italian-infected), enhance the value of the bicycle down the line, but cosmetic balance sometimes demands more exotic or practical choices for the sake of future value as a collector's item. Wheels can be custom built for client weight and riding style or to follow a classic theme. Lee takes his time to build up each bike for every client. This begins with the careful prepping of the steel frame, a job that requires specific tools and a lot of patience.
Email or call 1-435-259-6419 for info on availablity. Pegoretti frames are measured center to center and frames are designed with an extended headtube and longer top tube to effectively increase rigidity of larger sizes. As a result of this simple and unique design feature, you will ride a smaller sized Pegoretti when compared to most other road bike frame sizings.
"The more I ride it, the more I love it. I'm officially no longer held back by my equipment. I'm going to go ride it right now. This bike really makes me feel that the sky's the limit." ~ Nate Neufeld

This is the most popular Pegoretti frame and the company owner's favorite ride, suitable for a wide range of riders and uses, but most suitable for anyone who wants quick response and solid pedaling and sprinting platform. Constructed from oversized, heat treated
Pegoretti Marcelo Dreamride Edition

"The Marcelo is a very special bike that inspires confidence. I have taken some corners that I would not dare do on any other bike I own. It just speaks to me, 'Come on,... we can do this!' And the tubing is almost miraculous, in its ability to be stiff enough to take a stomping up a hill and also mute the road buzz to a massage level. I am SO thankful that you made me get this frame. I would not have known otherwise that it is a very different ride than the Duende." ~ Eric Anderson
Columbus "Spirit" tubing, the Marcelo is strong, yet somewhat vertically compliant, with hand cut stainless steel rear dropouts and custom drawn rear stays. Comes with a Falz fork and King D-11 headset. Weight is 3.8 lbs in 54cm. ~ Pegoretti Marcelo frame & fork: TBD.
Based on careful selection of parts from the Campy Potenza, Athena, Chorus, Record and/or Super Record grouppos, each bike receives attention to the smallest color and texture details and is color-keyed for visual effect. Wheels, stem, post and bars are selected based on your riding style, body, weight and cosmetic compatibility AND Dario's recommendations. Expect beauty when you open the box or come to Moab to pick up your new ride and break it in on a free guided ride with Lee. The Marcelo is certainly our favorite Pegoretti frame, extremely versatile. You will fall in love with the acceleration and the solid feel of steel between you legs. If you want to go fast, the Marcelo is the best choice.

Responsorium is built of stainless steel, the most supple Pegoretti frame. No rust. There are runs of Responsorium frames in a stock color and stock sizes, but most of our orders over the years have been customs, allowing custom paint choices. The Ciavete colorway is no longer possible, but suffice to say taht one client was asked what he wanted on the top tube, and the client replied, "I don't give a fuck," so when he got the bike "I don't give a fuck" was on the top tube. We had a cliet who asked for "my other bike is a woman" and it came with that very bold in the top tube. We had a woman order a Ciavete as a tribute to her daughter and she asked that the theme be "brain cancer," so Dario made the frame look like brain cancer, literally. It was shocking and scary. Ciavete paint is pictured above and elsewhere on this page--every one is different, though the methods my be the same. Robin William's Ciavete sold at auction for $48,000. The Columbus XCr stainless tubing is extruded solely for Pegoretti. Fork is Pegoretti Falz full carbon. No word on the fate of the steel custom fork to match. Tubing diameters are identical to the Marcelo except chainstays are 2mm less stout. Butted sections are longer and tubing walls thinner, creating an amazingly comfortable ride. No weight limit thanks to the new D11 headtube ~ Price of stock Pegoretti Responsorium frame, fork headset: $5300

The Lugged Frames, Luigino and Day is Done
Luigino and Day is Done lugged frames are now available as custom orders. The Day is Done can be considered a lugged Marcelo and can be built with components chosen for that model. The Luigino is a different animal. The Columbus Nivacrom EL-OS tubing on the Lugino frame and the handcut investment cast lugs and commemorative double layer fork crown are reminiscent of steel frames of the '50s and '60s. The classic two color paint scheme comes in any Pegoretti colors desired. Lee sees to your perfect custom fit. As always, components suit the retro mood and, as a result, they were somewhat exotic and hard to find. Since this is a chrome steel frame, prep for this model requires that machine tools used for chasing and facing be replaced or re-sharpened after the job, and careful attention must be paid to paint removal in areas where components meet the paint surface. As a result of the added attention this frame must receive to insure its safety during construction, labor costs are higher when compared to other Pegoretti frames. Steerer tube was 1" threadless. Frame weight is 4.5 lbs for a 54cm. This is the frame that got us interested in Pegoretti from the start, a classic that will increase in value over the years. Special order price of lugged steel frame and fork: $6200 (Falz fork on Day is Done, lugged steel fork on Luigino)
Custom Track or CX frames can be fabricated. The example above was modified to include a singlespeed freewheel and Phil Wood high flange hubs.
