Most suitable build for any Moots road frame!
We utilize Campagnolo Record or Super Record, Shimano Dura Ace, or SRAM Red component groups for our classic build up of a Vamoots sport touring frame. We modify each parts group for best performance, ergonomics, reliability and beauty to suit your personal needs. The bike pictured was built for a lawyer from Northern California for long distance touring that includes mountain passes. The SRAM Red group has been augmented with a substitute chain, derailleurs and bottom bracket for lower gearing and better reliability over the long haul. A Moots titanium Open Road stem and Cinch seatpost are the only way to go with this classic Moots bike. Stock handlebar is an FSA K-Wing Compact. A handbuilt Dreamride wheelset, constructed from Campy Record or Chris King R45 hubs, Mavic Open Pro or CXP33 rims (we may substitute Zipp, DT or Campy rims or complete wheels), and DT spokes continues the theme of performance, reliability, light weight, ease of maintenance and classic beauty in harmony with the grouppo. We specify a Brooks Swallow Titanium-railed leather saddle and matching bar tape in honey, antique brown or black. A Chris King headset and titanium King Cage waterbottle cages add elegance and functionality, further continuing the theme of longevity and ease of maintenance. This bike has Time Carbon pedals, but you can choose any pedal you like. The bike pictured uses Schwalbe Durano tires that not only match the saddle and bar tape, but are fast and extremely durable for the long haul. The Dreamride Classic build is easy to love, a favorite. You will never grow tired of the feel or the look of this combination of high quality parts in a package tuned to your body and riding needs. Whether you are racing, upping the pace on a century ride or riding with your buddies in wine country, this is the state-of-the-art tool for the job. We cannot give you quads of iron and lungs the size of a whiskey barrel, but we CAN put a perfect machine under you. This is as good as it gets.
This is our top end road bike build. We are basing our pricing on the use of Campagnolo Super Record and Super Record Titanium groups. Campy Record, SRAM Red, Shimano Dura Ace and substitute price point combinations are options that lower costs considerably, but this is a no compromise build. See price point builds for suggestions, if you want to get similar performance at a lower cost.
As do all Dreamride custom road bikes, the Distance Racer is built for each client individually. The Moots Vamoots CR and RSL frames are top dog American road frames and, if there is any frame that deserves the royal treatment it is the RSL. We currently use Enve rims, bladed DT spokes and Chris King R45 hubs. We will substitute any suitable Zipp or Campagnolo carbon wheelset on request. The fork is a stock Moots item painted to match the frame. We use a Fizik saddle (model suits your needs). King headsets always. King bottom brackets whenever appropriate.

This is what happens when you call and say you want a Moots road bike at a specific price point. While it is not reasonable to expect a new Moots road bike to come in lower than $5500 without compromising performance to the point of being ridiculous, this is the best way to cram as much quality as possible into a specific budget. The bike pictured is an example. It arrived at its total cost within a limit of $6500. When someone calls for a price point build we have many ways to bring the price down that simply do not compromise performance or good looks. This bike, for example, benefited from a last minute promotional sale by a distributor. Use of in-stock parts brings pricing down. Paying with wire transfer or personal check will bring the price down at least $100.
Each bike is given much attention to creative parts selection, then detailed and immaculately built by Lee Bridgers.
Here are two 50cm Moots Compact frames constructed differently and set up with vastly different parts groups. One cost $10.9K, the other, $6.5K. For $10,875 the client got a customized frameset, a labor intensive high quality paint job that will increase in value over the years, a Campy Super Record 8 piece group, a custom handbuilt wheelset with Campy Record hubs and bladed spokes, a lot of attention to cosmetics in the parts group, and enough exotic carbon fiber to bring the total weight down to 15.5 pounds. Dreamride Edition bike clients also get invites to stay and ride with us in Moab. For $6,500 the price point bike weighs less than a pound more (16.3 pounds total weight with pedals). It has a SRAM Rival group spiced with a SRAM Red crankset, a Moots ti seatpost, a Fizik Arione saddle, an FSA Wing Pro handlebar, Thomson stem and a Dreamride wheelset with Chris King hubs. The good news is that both clients are very happy with their choices. It is all about priorities. If you can afford to invest in a fine art paint job and a Super Record group, you will be very, very happy. If you choose to get a straight up stock Moots frame built with a solid Dreamride parts pick that will not break the bank, you will also be very happy.

With the price of gas going up, we are putting new focus on commuter bikes that are fun to ride and can handle recreational and practical duties. Below is our "Loop" parts kit, a fantastic all-around bicycle that can handle century rides and, with the right Moots frame, will handle off-road trails. If wet or very cold weather is an issue with your commute, Moots has recently released a Rohloff and fender kit that turns our Loop build into a storm chaser.
The La Sal Mountain Road parts group
The La Sal Mountain Road's front end, can feature Nitto Mustache bars and bar end shifters, any suitable drop handlebar (add in-line brake levers, as well as a variety of systems based on a Moots ti flat bar--see example below with Dirt Road Flyer mods). The mustache bar cockpit includes the necessary custom-szed Moots ti stem. Save several hundred dollars with the option to substitute a stock Thomson stem and post, or any other suitable offering. The Dreamride-built wheels come with Chris King or Phil Wood hubs (road or cyclocross) and Mavic Open Pro road, CXP or A-series rims (Zipp carbon rims are options at additional cost). You can subsitute a suitable factory-built wheelset, if need be.
We use an effective mixture of high end drivetrain components that can be straight-up road, a combination of road/mountain/CX, chosen for your specific use. We use Shimano, Campy or SRAM component groups and mix them up for best value and reliability. Choose from FSA, Campy, Shimano or SRAM crankests in compact or standard, mated to a brutally strong, fast shifting and easily serviced Conex Wipperman chain and SRAM Red, SRAM XX or Campy Record cassette. SRAM, Campy, Shimano, Zero Gravity or Paul brakes stop the bike. There are disc brake options with the Psychlo-X frame.
For comfort and longevity our chosen saddle is a Brooks Swallow ti-railed saddle with matching bar tape.
We spec Moots forks exclusively. The build produces a classic, speedy, momentum-building bicylce that treats your body with courtesy. It's about going faster, safer, efficiently and more reliably in comfortable classic style. If you live in San Francisco, Marin, DC, Portland or Seattle--this bike is perfect for urban commuting and recreation. If you ride in traffic, you will dearly love this build. Moots Vamoots versions are around 18.25 pounds with pedals. The Moots Psychlo-X bike pictured with Mustache bar is 20.5 pounds. Other Loop builds have come in at 17 pounds. The La Sal Mountain Road build was originally inspired by Moab's weird and lonely mountain backroads. This group is for the long haul over mountainous terrain and, if you choose the CX version, it takes into consideration the temptation to venture off-pavement. Based on a Moots Vamoots standard, CR or RSL, or Moots Pscyhlo-X cyclocross frame with or without a YBB rear end, this build is designed to handle rough, difficult road conditions, steep climbs and descents, allowing you to enjoying the scenery without becoming part of it. A Psychlo-X frame with a variant of this rugged and light build can be a road and trail bike, a commuter, and/or cyclocross race bike.
A Vamoots sport touring frame with the Mountain Road build will keep you fresh on a century ride. The Loop Mountain Road build is not meant for a road racing, but don't count it out. In many demanding situations it is as faster than a racer for a recreational rider, and always friendlier in traffic. This is the most comfortable classic road bike you are going to find anywhere! It is built to FIT like a glove, be comfortable, reliable, efficient, smoooooth, and fast over a variety of road surfaces and conditions. The drivetrain is custom geared to your needs.

With the Psychlo-X frame the La Sal Loop Road is a fantastic all-around BICYCLE!--a city commuter that can easily perform those simple, yet abusive maneuvers that help you AVOID traffic. With or without YBB suspension, it can be your weekend singletrack bike that can get you to the trail and back, as well. With YBB, you will find rooted singletrack to be a breeze--lock it out when you don't need it (use it to load the spring with or without sag to tweak geometry on the fly).
